Duck hunting in Uruguay is an extraordinary hunting trip and while Los Gauchos would like to take the credit, obviously the country of Uruguay, the guides, staff, and landscape all play huge parts in providing an excellent duck hunting region in Uruguay.
Los Gauchos has 2 lodges that focus on duck hunting in Uruguay and operate only during duck hunting season. The duck hunting season is May to September with excellent waterfowl populations and variety throughout the season.
May brings in the teal - your Uruguay duck hunt will consist of teal while mid to end of the duck hunting season provides the larger ducks such as the Rosy-bill pochard and other large ducks unique to Uruguay.
Duck hunting trips are packages that consist of the guided hunting, lodging, meals, beverages, gun use, and tips. Duck hunting takes place in blinds near the baited marshes on private rice farms. Whether you have a group of 8 hunters or want to come as a single hunter, no problem. The lodges, guides, and hosts speak English and the culture of Uruguay is that in which guests are always welcome and the term "mi casa es su casa" is truly displayed.
The Uruguay Duck Hunting Club or Rio Branco Lodge is stronger than ever with several seasons and hundreds of happy duck hunters. Many improvements have been made and while the Uruguay Duck Hunting Club still has a "home" lodge like feeling, it is equipped with 4 double occupancy rooms and private baths, a web connection, and food that will make you realize what you have been missing by not getting to Uruguay sooner.
Los Gauchos had added a second Lodge - The Fortin Lodge. Another Uruguay duck hunting destination with a focus on the duck hunting, the Fortin Lodge does offer Perdiz hunting for those that want a change of pace and a stab at the Upland hunt. These 2 lodges are part of the best duck hunting in Uruguay.

See some of the Uruguay duck hunting in action. These are all videos shot on location with Los Gauchos Outfitters for several Outdoor Channel and Versus TV hunting shows that air throughout the year. This gives a good insight into the volume of ducks in Uruguay, the colorful species, and the set-up and high quality equipment that goes with each Uruguay duck hunt of Los Gauchos Outfitters.
